Parbold Music Lancashire is the title under which the concerts and musical events are presented and is the operational name of Douglas Music Society, a registered charity, founded in 1973, to present an annual season of Saturday evening concerts with established international stars, young artists and popular music to celebrate all kinds of music-making and musical tastes.

The orchestra was formed in 1975 as the New Orchestra of Manchester and performs eight concerts every season at the Town Hall with professional conductors and both established and rising stars of the classical music world.

Streamed over 4 million times, this version of Bach’s monumental work takes the listener on a journey through a constellation of different forms and emotional responses in an hour of sublime music.
