Duets are explored in this concert through the double concertos of J.S. Bach and Astor Piazzolla featuring acclaimed guitarist Craig Ogden and classical accordionist Miloš Milivojević. Steve Reich’s Duet for two solo violins and strings – written for Yehudi Menuhin – is a miraculous recreation of delayed acoustic space. Baroque perfection and interlacing, contrapuntal conversation abound in Bach’s Concerto for oboe and violin. Piazzolla’s Concerto for Guitar and Bandoneon is stripped back and brooding tango that gradually moves towards a joyful conclusion. Belize-born Errolyn Wallen’s sacred-feeling Chorale hints at the complexity of Michael Tippett and the lushness of Vaughan Williams.

Craig is delighted to be working with Steve Christmas at Hogans Music, Newbury on some guitar classes and performance opportunities for both young players and adults. There are two separate courses, the youth course running during half term from 28 to 30 October and the adult course on 31 October and 1 November.
There will be a selection of socially distanced workshops, guitar orchestra rehearsals and technique sessions. It will be lots of fun and Craig would love to see you there! More info

Craig would have been performing with his friends the London Tango Quintet at the Festival this September, however the festival had to be cancelled due to Covid-19.

Craig would have been performing a live recital for Sandbach Concerts last month which got cancelled due to CV19, but instead there will be an exclusive online concert instead!
If you want to come along on Wednesday 24th June at 7pm you’ll need to sign up on this form (see below).
As well as a concert from Craig Ogden, Jerome McGuiness will be performing in the spotlight concert. Jerome is a final year viola student at the RNCM – Royal Northern College of Music and performed for Sandbach several years ago.
They will also be catching up with Nigel Birch to find out what Lions Youth Brass have been up to during lockdown to keep the music going – spaces are limited so sign up today to avoid missing out!
