Shaldon Festival, Devon with the London Tango Quintet

The London Tango Quintet is a unique group of five internationally acclaimed musicians who have been performing tango music at the highest level for nearly 20 years. The group includes guitar virtuoso Craig Ogden (Classic FM recording artist) and accordionist Miloš Milivojević (as heard on Strictly Come Dancing!). These five exceptional musicians will be performing some of the most popular works by the king of Argentinian tango Astor Piazzolla. Amongst the intoxicating rhythms and jaw-dropping virtuosity of the tango, there will be solos and duos ranging from Spanish fire to cool Parisian jazz.

Thaxted Festival Launch with Aquarelle Guitar Quartet

The launch of our 2026 summer season will take place on 22 February in Thaxted Parish Church at 3pm.

After Craig Ogden’s success this summer when he performed with the London Tango Quintet, he was the perfect choice to launch our 2026 season with the dynamic and innovative guitar quartet Aquarelle. Expect extraordinary performances and an expansive repertoire. Don’t miss the opportunity to hear their arrangements of music from various genres and works from major international composers. Our new Artistic Director, Christopher Weston has been curating our 40th anniversary Festival season and he and our Chair, Peter Donovan look forward to talking through the highlights with you during the afternoon (General booking opens on 16 March).

Craig will be performing a solo recital for the distinguished Jane Glover Concert Series at the Blake Theatre, Monmouth.

Earlier that day Craig will be working with young guitarists at Haberdashers’ Monmouth School in a masterclass.

Five internationally acclaimed musicians come together as the London Tango Quintet performing music by the legendary Astor Piazzolla interspersed with stunning instrumental solos.

In 1921 a tango scene in Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse propelled a young Rudolf Valentino to global stardom. Ever since, film makers have used the dance to express the tensions, hidden desires and threats of violence between their characters. The London Tango Quintet’s programme features tangos from the silver screen with Piazzolla’s Libertango and Oblivion and the golden era classics, La cumparsita and Por una cabeza.
