The Oulu Symphony celebrates the centenary of Sir Malcolm Arnold. Arnold, who died in 2006, is considered one of the most important English composers of the 20th century, regardless of genre. His extensive production covers a range of styles from concert halls to opera, ballet and of course films. He rose to the attention of the general public with his compositions for the classic film The Bridge on the River Kwai, for whose music he was awarded both an Oscar and a Grammy in 1957.

The concerts of the Oulu Symphony offer a unique opportunity to hear a comprehensive cross-section of Sir Malcolm Arnold’s diverse music. With the Northern Ostrobothnia tour, the next Chief Conductor of the orchestra, Rumon Gamba, will take an early start to his season with the program for which he is best known.

Cawsand Bay GuitarFest, Cornwall – Saturday 11 September 2021

An exciting classical guitar weekend by the sea on the stunning Rame Peninsula, with Craig Ogden, Eden Stell Guitar Duo & Alison Smith 10th – 12th September 2021. Following on from such a highly successful Guitarfest in 2019, we are returning with another exciting weekend combining great music in an area of outstanding natural beauty that inspires creativity. The stunning location by the sea makes for a perfect break from the hustle and bustle.

There will be concerts, a master class, workshops, ensemble playing, artists interviews and question & answer session, informal playing opportunities, cream tea, sea view dinners and lots of fun in a friendly environment.

Craig’s public concert is on Saturday 11 September 2021 at 8pm.
